Arkhangelskoye Estate Museum – Krasnogorsk district of Moscow Region

The Arkhangelskoe Estate Museum is located in the Krasnogorsk district of the Moscow Region, 20 kilometers west of Moscow. This estate is a unique monument of Russian arts culture. Arkhangelskoe gained the worldwide fame of “Moscow Versailles” owing to majestic beauty of the estate and variety of unique museum collections.

Since the end of the seventeenth century the estate was owned by Princes Golitsyns, and from October 1810 to the revolution of 1917, by the collector and patron the Prince Nikolai Yusupov (1751 - 1831) and his descendants. Construction and decoration of the estate are related to the names of architects such as Gern, Trombar, Petondi, Gonzag, Beauvais, and Klein.

The collection of paintings contains works of the greatest Western European artists of the seventeenth - nineteenth centuries such as A. Van Dyck, D.B. Tiepolo, F. Boucher, J. Robert, and others.

The collection of decorative art includes artistic bronze, watches, furniture, and products of the Yusupov’s Porcelain Factory in Arkhangelskoe (1820 - 1830) and major European manufactures of the eighteenth-nineteenth centuries. The Yusupov’s collection also contains sculptures (seventeenth century BC - early twentieth century). The museum is proud of a fund of rare books: this is the most extensive collection of all estate libraries (over 16,000 volumes of Russian and Western publications of the sixteenth-nineteenth centuries).

Ensemble central part:
• Palace and regular park on terraces with architectural decor and marble sculptures (1780-1810);
• Small palace “Caprice”, pavilions “Temple-Monument to Catherine II” and “Teahouse” (eighteenth-nineteenth centuries);
• Memorial columns in honor of Alexander I, Nicholai I, and Alexander III;
• Ensemble of Pushkin’s Alley.

Ensemble eastern part and museum exhibitions:
• Archangel Michael Church, seventeenth century (working church);
• “The Holy Gates”, nineteenth century. “Pantry over the Ravine”, nineteenth century;
• “Clerical Outbuilding”, nineteenth century. (museum exhibition);
• “Colonnade” (“Temple-Tomb”), early twentieth century. (museum exhibition, exhibitions of contemporary artists, concerts).

Ensemble western part:
• Theatre of Gonzaga (1817-1818, Italian architect and painter Pietro di Gottardo Gonzaga).
Since 1998, the Arkhangelsk Museum Estate reviving old traditions holds classical music concerts “Autumn Divertissement in Arkhangelskoe” and musical evenings in the open air.

• single ticket: 400 rub.; (single ticket provides only for self-sightseeing of the park and exhibitions and DOES NOT cover the excursion service);
• ticket to visit the park: 150 rub.; 50 rub. - (discount);
• ticket to visit the park and the palace (displays and exhibitions): 300 rub.; 250 rub. - (discount); (visiting the palace by single visitors is possible in time free of tour groups booked in advance);
• exhibitions (for people with free access to the park or bought a ticket to the Park): 300 rub.; 200 rub. - (discount);
• Theatre of Gonzaga (Seen only in the tour group): 200 rub.; 150 rub. - for pensioners, school children, and full-time students;
• photos and videos in the Theater are prohibited;
• wedding groups buy ticket to make photo and video at the museum estate – 3000 rub. – in an obligatory manner.

Park is open every day from 10.00 am until 6.00 pm (ticket office until 5.30 pm) from 10.00 am until 9.00 pm (ticket office until 8.30 pm)
Expositions and exhibitions :
• Expositions and exhibitions are open on Wednesday-Friday from 10.30 am until 4.00 pm (ticket office until 3.30 pm) from 10.30 until 5.00 pm (ticket office until 4.30 pm)
• On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 10.30 until 5.00 pm (ticket office until 4.30 pm) from 10.30 until 6.00 pm (ticket office until 5.30 pm)
When concerts are planned, the Colonnade and the palace halls are closed to visitors one hour prior to the start of events
